Known as a typical Hudson River town, Dobbs Ferry is a combination of spectacular views and charming neighborhoods. Dobbs Ferry was named for Jan Dobbs, who used to ferry people across the Hudson River to Sneden's Landing. It was incorporated with the Town of Greenburgh in 1783. It enjoys views of the Tappan Zee Bridge, the Palisades and the Hudson River while affording convenient access to New York City. The Dobbs Ferry Union Free School District offers outstanding public education. The elementary, middle and high schools have been recognized nationally for their excellence. An area parochial school, The Masters School, a private boarding school and Mercy College can also be found here. Its unusual combination of the simplicity of an old Hudson River Village and proximity to New York City, make Dobbs Ferry a lovely place to live. |
